Manuela’s Coffee & Gift Shop
A Vredendal favourite for home-baked cake, proper coffee and a light lunch, with gifts and handicrafts to browse while you wait. Worth checking the blackboard for the day’s specials.
Area guide
Vredendal sits on the Olifants River in the Matzikama, between vineyards, the Cederberg and the West Coast. A few of our favourite outings, all within easy reach of the guesthouse.

Minutes away
Vredendal sits in one of South Africa’s largest wine-producing valleys. Cellar doors along the Olifants River offer tastings a short drive from the guesthouse — ask us which are open when you visit.

August – September
In spring the region north of us erupts into famous carpets of wildflowers. Vredendal makes a comfortable base for day trips along the flower routes.

Under an hour
Quiet beaches, fresh seafood and a working harbour lighthouse at Doringbaai — an easy afternoon outing from town.

Day trip
Rugged sandstone mountains, rock art and hiking trails to the south-east — worth a full day if you have one to spare.

On our doorstep
The river that gives the valley its life. Picnic on its banks, or ask us about canoeing and sundowner spots nearby.
Ask us — we’ll happily point you to cellar doors, flower routes and the best padstal coffee.
